A Seven-year-old Chinese Dog Has Won a Competition to Be the World's Ugliest Dog

December 23, 2023

Beautiful things are loved and admired by everyone, but the world is not fair, there are beauty and ugliness, beauty does not mean popular, likewise, ugliness does not mean unpopular.

Scooter, a bristled dog from China which is 7 years old, has won the title of Least Good-looking Dog in the whole world in Petaluma, becoming the expected winner and taking home $1,500 (10,819 yuan). According to the report, Scooter was handed over to animal control to be euthanized shortly after birth due to her deformed back joints and legs, but she was lucky enough to be saved by a volunteer and later adopted by her current owner, Linda Elmquist.

Scooter can not walk normally due to the reversed position of the hind legs, the whole body hair is bald, only a pinch of white thin long on the head, the pink tongue can not be put into the mouth, always hanging outside, it is very funny, but it is precisely these, let it win the judges love.

"From the moment it sits on your lap with its bare little butt and crooked heels, you can feel its warm, cuddly power to change the word 'ugly,'" NBC host Gadi Schwartz, one of the competition's judges, told the TODAY show. "In the cutest way, it kind of reminds me of a hairy hippo," said Liang Siting, another judge.

It is known that when the seven-year-old dog gets tired of walking on his front legs, he will support himself on his bottom, like a tripod. Thankfully, Scott recently got a new wheelchair to help him move around, and now, he can speed around the park like other dogs, and when the wheelchair is not on him, Scott can do things most dogs can't: Walk with balance on both front legs.
